Couples & Individual Therapy in Pasadena, CA
I’m Jennafer Maguire, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing as Big Talk Therapy. I offer in-person sessions in Pasadena and telehealth sessions throughout California.
I’m based in Pasadena, and I work with adults navigating relationship struggles, attachment patterns, and the ways past experiences shape present-day connection. I also work with couples, including those looking for a marriage counselor who looks at what’s underneath the argument, not just the argument itself. In-person sessions are easy to get to if you’re in Pasadena or nearby, including South Pasadena, San Marino, and Altadena.
I also offer online therapy throughout California, from Siskiyou to San Diego and everywhere in between! Maybe you’re working through conflict with a partner. Maybe you’re trying to understand a pattern that keeps repeating, or processing something that happened a long time ago that still shows up today. Either way, therapy with me is grounded in your actual life, not generic advice.
Where I See Clients
In-person sessions are held at my Pasadena office, convenient to South Pasadena, San Marino, and Altadena. If you’re anywhere else in California, I also see clients online, so location isn’t a barrier to starting this work.
Who It’s For
This practice is a good fit if you are:
- In a relationship that feels stuck, strained, or harder than it used to be
- Trying to understand your own patterns in relationships, with a partner, family, or yourself
- Carrying the effects of relational trauma, family conflict, or a difficult upbringing
- Going through a life transition and want support that is not one-size-fits-all
- Looking for a therapist in Pasadena who is LGBTQ+-affirming and works from a culturally responsive lens
- Someone who has tried therapy before without feeling like it went anywhere
Everybody!
Therapy isn’t only for a crisis or a diagnosis, it matters for everyone, at any point in life.
Services
I offer three services:
Individual Therapy
For anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and the relationship patterns that shape how you connect with others.
Couples Therapy
For communication breakdowns, trust repair, and the deeper patterns underneath recurring conflict.
Family Therapy
For adult family relationships and the dynamics that affect them.
Each service is offered in person in Pasadena or by telehealth throughout California, so you can choose the format that fits your life.
What Makes This Practice Different
Big Talk Therapy is my solo practice, not a large group or a national chain, so you’ll work with me directly, every time, not whichever provider has an opening. My work centers on two specific frameworks: attachment theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Rather than managing symptoms in isolation, I look at how earlier relationships shaped the patterns showing up now. I treat the reactive or shut-down parts of yourself with curiosity instead of judgment. This is a specific, ongoing focus of my work, not a general label I apply to every client. It tends to matter most if you’ve tried therapy before and it felt surface level, like the work never got to the root of what you were actually struggling with.
How Sessions Work
Sessions are fifty minutes, held weekly or every other week depending on what fits your life. In-person sessions take place at my Pasadena office. Telehealth sessions happen through a secure video platform, and many clients move between the two formats depending on scheduling and preference.

Meet Jennafer
I’m Jennafer Maguire, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) licensed in California. I hold a master’s degree from Pepperdine University and have been in practice since 2019. How you show up in your relationships today is connected to what you’ve lived through, and understanding that connection is often where real change starts.

Getting Started
The first step is a brief consultation, not a commitment. It’s a chance to ask me questions and get a sense of whether this feels like the right fit, before scheduling a full session. There’s no obligation to continue afterward.

A consultation is a low-pressure first step. It’s a chance to ask me questions and see if this feels like the right fit before committing to anything.
